One of the very first varietal bottlings of the red grape Mavroudi; an indigenous variety revived by the Tsantali family together with the rejuvenation of the Maronian vineyard in mid 1990s. Today, TSANTALI MAVROUDI is launched with a new packaging as a Varietal Wine.
The label, concept and design by EZIstudio in Quebec Canada, is inspired by the famous Thracian Horsemen; Herodotus, the Father of History, Arrian in his work “Anabasis of Alexander”, Thucidides in his “History of Peloponnesian War” (Book 5) highlight the outstanding war skills of the Thracian Horsemen whose presence was said to define the combat effectiveness of a cavalry.
“He (Polyphemus) asked for his (Odysseus) name. The latter replied “No one” (Kanenas in Greek)“.
The adventurous encounter between Odysseus and the Cyclops Polyphemus -whose cave is located in Maronia- was the inspiration behind one the best-selling Greek wine brands. A trilogy blending indigenous and international varieties and narrating a fascinating story.
